Nisshinkan : Aizu Samurai School
The Nisshinkan is Clan’s school; a place of learning and rising 10 years old children in the Aizu clan since 1803 in Edo era. Nisshinkan has good teachings and morals. During the first year they learned Nisshinkan Kokoroe (日新館心得 Rules and etiquette taught at Nisshinkan) and 17 principles

Tsuruga Castle
Visiting Tsuruga castle in Spring; the best season to visit Japan, you can enjoy the beauty of 1,000 bright pink cherry blossoms during the day and rising in the night sky.

Kasama Inari shrine
It is an ancient shrine near Tsuruga Castle, with stone torii(Shinto shrine gates) and several long steps before reaching the shrine. The both side have stone fox statues, with the belief that All foxes have supernatural power. There are good and bad foxes.

The Inari-fox is good, and the bad foxes are afraid of the Inari-fox, and they can communicate with the gods. Local people will come to wish for fulfillment, especially on examinations and on January 1.

Aizu Bukeyashiki
Aizu Bukeyashiki is a historical site of reconstructed samurai residences of the Edo period. The residential complex of a top-ranking Edo period Aizu retainer, Tanomo Saigo, is featured at this museum park.

The original complex was burnt down during the Boshin War in 1868. There are dozens of different rooms and sections, including gardens, guest rooms, a tea house, an archery range and a rice mill. There is a local foods and sweets shop nearby, so lets go!

Ouchijuku
Ouchijuku is a former post town along the Aizu-Nishi Kaido trade route, which connected Aizu with Nikko during the Edo Period(1640).

In the past, with a distance of 130 kilometers from Aizu Wakamatsu – Imaichi City (now Nikko). Start traveling from Aizu Wakamatsu, this is a post town for travellers. It is the 3rd point of this route (No. 1 is fukunagajuku, No. 2 is Sekiyamajuku and No. 3 is Ouchijuku) Then it goes down to many towns and end at the 17th city.

Ouchi-juku is such a post town; post towns dotted the long road to Edo where rural samurai went to procure rice and food supplies. ** The town that the government designated as a sojourn, it is called Post Town. The reason is that in the olden days, this kind of place is a point of sending official mail or express baggage as well. Therefore, there are persons in charge of unloading luggages.

Oyakuen
Oyakuen in Aizuwakamatsu City, Oyakuen can be translated as “Medicinal Herb Garden”. Oyakuen is one of the Daimyo Gardens of the Edo Era.It is also an Edo Era strolling garden. In 1868, the Boshin civil war broke out in Japan, this place was changed to be a field hospital to accommodate the injured.

Yunokami Onsen Station
Yunokami-Onsen Station is a railway station on the Aizu Railway Aizu Line in the town of Shimogō, Minamiaizu District, Fukushima Prefecture, Japan, operated by the Aizu Railway. Here is the only station building with a thatched roof in Japan.

Aizu Jibo Dai Kannon
The giant statue of Aizu Jibo Dai Kannon Aizu Jibo Dai Kannon is a Buddhist bodhisattva associated with mercy and compassion, often presented as a goddess in religious settings all over Asia. This Kannon is 57 meters (187 ft) tall.

Higashiyama Onsen
Higashiyama Onsen, Aizuwakamatsu City’s retreat area, was established over 1,300 years ago. This Onsen town stirs nostalgic feelings thanks to its row of traditional inns along the river, a traditional shooting range and small waterfall.

Tono hetsuri
Tono-Hetsuri is a scenic spot in Minami-Aizu district, Fukushima Prefecture. It is a valley along Okawa river. Hetsuri means “cliff” in local dialect. The cliffs are thought to have been formed by wind and rain over the past 28 million years.

Tono-Hetsuri also can be translated as ‘the carved pagoda overlooking the river’, or ‘the pagoda’s slope facing the river’. Tono-Hetsuri is only a 5-10 minute walk from To-no-Hetsuri Station on the Aizu Railway Line.

Former Kuimaru Elementary School
Kyu Kuimaru School, the oldest school was established in the Showa period of the 12th year (between 1926 and ended in 1989). It is now open to visitors as a conservation area. The first teacher here is about 100 years old now. Her name is Fumino teacher. Due to very few students, both classes are combined together, such as Primary 1. and Primary 2. , will study in the same room.

Sazaedo Pagoda
Down the northern side of hill Iimoriyama, Sazaedo Pagoda is located in Aizu-Wakamatsu city, Fukushima. You can find the Sazaedo pagoda, an important wooden cultural property of Japan and completed in 1796. There are no stair inside the circular structure, which has a winding path leading all the way to up and down without ever crossing. What amazing!

Inawashiro Lake

Shamisen is a three-stringed traditional Japanese musical instrument derived from the Chinese instrument sanxian through the Ryūkyū Kingdom (Okinawa) in the 16th century.

Numajiri Kogen Lodge
A mountain climber - The cherished spot of Junko Tabei Junko Tabei is a mountaineer from Fukushima who has always been in love with mountainous areas, as well she used to be the owner of “Numajiri Kogen Lodge” the favored place of people.
