In year 815, when Kobo Daishi (the greatest monk of Shikoku pilgrimage) first came here, he could feel that there is the Buddha here. Then he started to carve the wooden statue of the Buddha. While hammering down, he also prayed.

The stone sign is written as Daiichi-ji and The fourth temple, Tochi shingon religion;one of Buddhism. The entrance to this temple is quite strange because there are no gods protecting the left and right,as other Japanese temples.

The Holy water, to scoop water to wash hands before entering the temple. It is only one stone and drill in the center to make like a basin. It is incredible and very valuable. In the past the water inside the stone was opaque water, It is said that when you drink, it will help to cleanse the intestines. But now, no opaque water at all. They use tap water instead. On the stone, written as 1822.

The red Buddha outside, known as Binzuru, is considered one of the disciples of the Lord Buddha. When you rubbed his head ;left side 3 times and right side 3 times, people believe that there will be no illness and disaster. But because in the past, there was a story telling that he used his energy to help both the needful and the unnecessary, then the Buddha got angry. Therefore, we see this Buddha statue always standing outside the pavilion.
